JDRF One Walk is the world’s biggest fundraising event for type 1 diabetes (T1D). Formerly the Walk to Cure Diabetes, the new name highlights the powerful impact you can make by joining over a million people worldwide at JDRF One Walk.

Julie from the Walkers of Merrett says, “Our twin sons Noah and Christian were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes ten and eight years ago. We’ve been doing the JDRF One Walk with a large team for 7 years now, raising over $135,000 in total.”

“I believe that with the funds we raise, JDRF can make life easier and find a cure for Noah and Christian. Maybe they can prevent their older brother Joshua from developing type 1 diabetes as well. That’s why we come back and do the JDRF One Walk every year – because every dollar that we raise goes towards research that can make a difference in the lives of our sons.”

TCats

Lorraine from Tom’s T-Cats says, “Our son Tom was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2007, when we were living in Texas. We got involved with JDRF almost straight away, and attended our first JDRF One Walk with a team of 14 people, raising $13,000.”

“When we moved back to Australia, we kept inviting our friends, family, and colleagues to join us to support Tom at JDRF One Walk. Our team grew every year, and 2014 was the largest team we’ve ever had in Australia with 101 team members. Overall, we’ve raised $115,000 in the past eight years.”

“Hopefully 2015 will be our biggest year yet! We believe that the more people we can get to join us, the more awareness and money we can raise for JDRF and for research to help find better treatments and a cure for Tom.”
